This has been a difficult week, and I can't remember the last time I was this relieved to have made it to the weekend so I've been savouring these little pinpricks of happiness!
1. The beautiful snowy weather.
I love the cold. I don't love being cold so much, but I love cold weather. Bundling up in layers of lovely wool warms my heart as well as my body. Plus, UK winters these days are fairly mild so I don't often get the chance to wear all of the woolen things that I love to knit so much. When the temperatures do dip (like right now with the so-called "Beast from the East!") I like to take full advantage!
2. Icicles at my window.
3. Watching the birds flock to the feeders.
We like to feed the birds all year round, but it's even more important in this cold weather when their natural food sources are covered in snow and harder to find. High energy foods like suet balls, nuts and fruit are perfect!
4. The latest issue of Laine dropping through my door...
... And snatching a few moments from the day to flick through and admire the beautiful patterns and articles.
5. The scent of orange blossom.
I have a poor, neglected dwarf Calamondin tree growing in my study, and although I've not been taking very good care of it, over the past few weeks it's started to bloom. There is something so intoxicating about the heady sweet, floral scent of orange blossom - I close my eyes and I'm immediately transported to sunnier climes.
6. Another bit of post, this parcel of happiness arrived this week.
Earlier this month the lovely Na of PashKnit ran a competition on her Instagram page to win these two balls of milk fibre yarn, and I won! The beautiful parcel arrived this week, and isn't it beautiful? The colours are perfect!
Na found these yarns in her local health shop, of all places! They're so soft and pretty, and although I'm not sure what I'm going to make with them yet I am looking forward to seeing how they knit up.
And how about that cute project bag - I had no idea it was included in the prize so it was a wonderful surprise to find it inside the parcel. Isn't that little pompom adorable?
