Call for test knitters! The Graine fingerless mitts

A few months ago I put these mitts together to keep Graeme's fingers warm on our wintery walks. He'd borrowed mine on a few occassions, so I thought it was time he had a pair of his own!

I've wanted to design my own knitting patterns for some time now, and this seemed like the perfect introduction. I knit the sample, wrote up the pattern, and sent it off for tech editing. And this is where you come in - now I need your help!

GRAINE MITTS: TEST KNITTERS NEEDED!

Graine is a super simple and relaxing unisex pattern that you can easily whip up in a weekend. 

The mitts are knit in the round from the cuff down. The seed stitch texture is on the back of the hand only, and the palm is knit in stocking stitch. The thumb stitches are placed on hold and then worked in the round after the body is complete. Only a tiny amount of contrast yarn is needed for the cast on and bind off - perfect for using the odd bit of leftover yarn from your stash!

Skill level: Advanced beginner/intermediate
Experience: Testers with some experience preferred

Sizes: Pattern is one size - to fit 7-7.5” (18-19 cm) hand circumference

Yarn: Sport weight yarn: 164 yds/150 m (MC) & 15 yds/14 m (CC) 
Sample uses Cascade 220 Sport. (almost one full skein of MC was used) 
Yarn will not be provided, but you can use any wool based sport weight yarn that works to recommended gauge. I ask that you use solid or semi-solid colourways so that the textured pattern isn't obscured.

Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) needles for working in the round

Gauge: 28 sts & 42 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stocking stitch worked in the round (after blocking)

Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn

Techniques used: long tail cast on, 2x2 tubular bind off, simple increases and decreases, picking up stitches

Additional info & Expectations:

• The test will be run through Google Docs and Slack. Testers will be sent the link to the file on Google Docs and will able to add comments as necessary. There will also be a Slack channel for progress updates, photos, chat & any queries. If you don't have Slack account don't worry - it's free to sign up and easy to use, but you can test just with Google Docs if you prefer!
  Please don’t apply for the test if you are not comfortable with using or learning how to use Google Docs.
• Pattern has been tech edited but please do let me know via Gdocs or Slack if anything is unclear or if you come across any errors.
• Please swatch and make sure you get gauge.
• Please complete the pattern by the deadline. There is some flexibility with the dates, but if you think you’re going to have any trouble meeting the deadline then please let me know asap.
• Create a project page on Ravelry any time before the end of the test. Please include photos of the finished project and as much info as possible (yarns and needles used, amount of yarn, gauge etc). Link to the pattern page on release.
• OPTIONAL: if you have a profile on the LoveKnitting community then please create a linked project there once the pattern is released.
• Feel free to share photos (in progress and finished!) on Instagram as well!
• After completing the test knit testers will be gifted the completed pattern through Ravelry.
